Profile:
Mr. Gibbons received his academic preparation from Suffolk University Law School (JD) and the University of Massachusetts (BA, MS). His sport industry experience is varied and includes: manager of a health club in Massachusetts, director of player development of an elite youth soccer club in Rhode Island, five years as a college soccer coach and camp administrator at Brown University and the University of Massachusetts, and work representing the Boston Red Sox in salary arbitration cases.
Mr. Gibbons has served as department chair since the program’s inception in 2000. His teaching and research focuses on issues in sport law. He has served as a folio reader for the SMPRC and serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Legal Aspects of Sport. He has made conference presentations and written articles published in scholarly and trade journals. Among other works, he has published and presented on topics that include: teaching writing and research in sport management, sportsmanship in high school athletics, risk management approaches to reducing sexual assaults in sport, and the liability of recreation and competitive sport organizations for sexual assaults on children by administrators, coaches, and volunteers. He is currently examining administrative responses to athlete misconduct and the application of the presumption of innocence.

Profile:
With over twenty years of experience working in the public sector and coaching at the scholastic level, Mr. Bryson offers a unique perspective to our majors. In addition to teaching a variety of courses, his primary focus is on assisting students, beginning as early as their “Freshman” year, gain the vital experience necessary to secure employment within the Sport Industry upon graduating from St. John Fisher College.
This process begins with individual meetings designed to explore each student’s passion and unique interests and then formulate a “strategy,” that includes the use of their Practicum and Internship, designed to develop core competencies and begin the process of networking with practitioners already in the field. It is essential that students entering the Sport Management program understand and be committed to investing in their “dream” immediately upon arriving on campus. Being pro-active and working with Mr. Bryson is strongly encouraged.

Profile:
Dr. Dane acquired much of her education in the Midwest region of this country (The University of Iowa, BS; University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, MS; The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities). Outside of the classroom, she has worked for a variety of agencies in the sporting industry such as the Grand Canyon State Games and the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. She was a high school cheerleading and pom pon coach for three years and also worked for a youth sporting organization called Young Olympians.
Her research on the utilization of curriculum standards in Master’s degree sport management programs was shared with a private committee in the development process of the new accreditation standards for North American Society of Sport Management. Her future focus of this area will be to examine student successes post-graduation from approved and non-approved sport management programs. Dr. Dane’s gendered research products have been presented at several national conferences, and her current project entitled Male and Female Images in Sport Film is entering its second phase of data collection.

Profile:
A native of the Finger Lakes Region, Dr. Harrison moved back to Rochester in the Fall of 2004 after spending the previous 5 years at the University of Florida and The Ohio State University. Drawing from a wide variety of sport experiences, from the University of Florida Athletic Association to the Pittsburgh Pirates to the Greater Columbus Sports Commission, Dr. Harrison has spent much of his energy engaging students in all corners of the vast sport industry.
As part of campus life, Todd is the faculty advisor for the Sport Studies Club and Hockey Club, working with student leaders of each organization to enhance the experiences of their members. The Sport Studies Club has worked with the faculty to attract guest speakers; assisted members of the local sport community in hosting sporting events and organized trips to cities such as Toronto and Columbus, OH to experience sport in those locales.
For the past two summers, Dr. Harrison has acted as Co-Director of the Buffalo Bills Training Camp for St. John Fisher College. This unique opportunity between the College and the Bills allows students to gain experience in a number of areas within a professional sport organization and Dr. Harrison’s inclusion in Training Camp’s organization enhances these opportunities.
Alan Pogroszewski

Profile:
Prior to joining the faculty at St. John Fisher College, Mr. Pogroszewski was the Vice President with Sports Consulting Group, a firm that specializes in the representation of professional hockey players. In his 10 years with Sports Consulting Group, his duties included preparing federal and state taxes for the firm's clients and dealing with both international and multiple states tax issues.
In addition to his services with the college, Mr. Pogroszewski is also the President of AFP Consulting LLC a firm that specializes in the tax consequences of professional athletes. With a balance of both professional and educational experiences, Mr. Pogroszewski has kept himself up-to-date of the advances in the field of professional athletes and their tax issues. His background has given him the insight to successfully assist those involved in the professional sports world in the complexities of finance and tax.
Mr. Pogroszewski's article concerning the Alberta province tax, which outlined the tax levied on professional hockey players in order to help finance the provinces sports teams, was published in the spring 2004 issue of Marquette Sports Law Journal.
